New IG takes charge

MADURAI, APRIL 5. Jalad K. Tripathy, a 1985 batch IPS officer, today took charge as the Inspector-General of Police (south zone). He replaces T.K. Rajendran, who has been transferred as Additional Commissioner of Police, Chennai.

A native of Bhubaneswar district in Orissa, Mr. Tripathy earlier served as IG (administration).

He held various positions, including Joint Commissioner of Police (south), Chennai, Commissioner of Police, Tiruchi, Superintendent of Police, Madurai, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (law and order), Madurai.

Soon after assuming office, Mr. Tripathy met senior police officials in the south zone and held discussions.

New DC assumes office

Meanwhile, Sandeep Mittal, a 1995 batch IPS officer, today took charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (headquarters).

Mr. Mittal earlier served as an SP in Tuticorin, Kanyakumari and Karur districts and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Mount), Chennai.

He also served as the Commandant of the Tamil Nadu Special Police (VIII Battalion) in New Delhi that provides external protection to the high-security Tihar Jail. The post of DC (headquarters) here fell vacant following the retirement of G. Jayasingh Thiyagarajan.
