Plea to set up High Court Bench

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 5. The Trivandrum Bar Association president, Konchira Neelakantan Nair, and Varkala Radhakrishnan, MP, today met the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, and sought steps to set up a High Court Bench in the capital. Even after shifting the High Court to Ernakulam, the Bench with filing powers had functioned here. Mr. Chandy responded positively to the request, Mr. Neelakantan Nair said here today.

Phone bill payment

Those who have not got the bills should contact the BSNL office on the LIC premises at Pattom or the counter at the Central Telephone Exchange at the Government Press Road, an official release said.

Coaching for LDC test

The University Employment Information and Guidance Bureau has invited applications for admission to coaching classes for LDC test conducted by the Kerala Public Service Commission. The course fee is Rs.600. Classes will be conducted from April 18 to 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Phone: 2304577.

Literary competitions

The Kerala Gazetted Officers Association, in connection with its 39th State conference, is conducting literary competitions for Government employees and teachers. Competitions are being held on short story, poetry and essay writing. The topic for the essay competition is `When issues of nationalism become a social calamity.' The entries should reach the convener of cultural activities, KGOA Office, Adhyapaka Bhavan Road, Thiruvananthapuram before April 30.

Communicative English course

The next batch for the communicative English course being conducted by the YMCA Institute of Continuing Education and Career Guidance will begin on April 7. The course is meant for Plus Two and college students and employees.Phone: 2330059 / 2339078
