BANGALORE, APRIL 5. The Karnataka Chemists and Druggists' Association on Tuesday said it is not planning to call for a bandh to protest the implementation of value added tax (VAT). Addressing presspersons here, B.S. Guddodgi, president of the association, said the association welcomed VAT. The lowering of tax on drugs from 12 per cent to four per cent will help the people, he added. Mr. Guddodgi said there is no shortage of drugs. There was a delay in manufacturers supplying them till Monday as they had to install the computer software for VAT.
