The Madras Government have constituted the general council of the Sangeetha Nataka Sangham which would be the provincial body for the National Sangeeth Natak Akadami. The following are its members: Smt. Rukmini Devi, Vidwan Chittoor Subramaniam Pillai, Vidwan Musiri Subramania Aiyar, V.C. Gopalarathnam, M.P. Periaswami Thooran, T.K. Shanmugam, Gopinath, S.S. Vasan, B.N. Reddi, S. Venkateswaran, T.M. Narayanaswami Pillai, R.P. Sethu Pillai, V. Raghavan, Raja Sir M.A Muthiah Chettiar, E. Krishna Aiyar, P. Sambanda Mudaliar, V.B. Ramiah Pillai, M.M. Dandapani Desigar, Maharajapuram Viswanatha Aiyar, T.N. Sivathanu, N.S. Krishnan, V. Nagiah, Prof. P. Sambamurthi and Smt. Balasaraswathi.
