TOKYO, APRIL 6. Japan's Sony Corp announced on Wednesday that it had signed a global partnership with FIFA, giving the Tokyo-based electronics, entertainment and technology group various rights as an official sponsor of over 40 FIFA events. The contract will run from 2007 to 2014 with a value of $305 million, Sony announced in a press release. The agreement will give Sony advertising and marketing activities at international football events, including the flagship FIFA World Cup in 2010 and 2014. The agreement makes Sony a `FIFA Partner' the highest level of sponsorship status, which is accorded to only six companies. AP
