NEW DELHI, APRIL 6. In a bizarre incident, a 35-year-old man was yesterday allegedly shot dead in a bus as it was passing through Khoda colony in East Delhi. The accused, however, is absconding while the police have launched a search. According to the police, the victim, Ram Kumar, a resident of Bhola Nath Nagar in Shahdara, was employed as a driver by Ranjit Singh, a bus contractor. At the time of the incident, Ram Kumar was driving the bus on the usual route from Mayur Vihar to Mori Gate. At about 9-30 in the evening, the bus was stopped at Khoda Colony by a group of three or four men. They climbed aboard and shot at Ram Kumar from a close range. The victim sustained bullet injuries in his stomach and back. He was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where he was declared brought dead. According to the police, the bus contractor, Ranjit Singh, who was also travelling in the bus, has identified one of the accused as Rakesh, another bus contractor operating in the area.
