BIJAPUR, APRIL 6. Fearing that her arrested husband would not be released from judicial custody, a middle-aged woman from Mushtigeri village in Badami taluk of Bagalkot district committed suicide on Tuesday. The police identified the woman as Dyamavva Kambar (43). Her husband, Vitthappa Ningappa Kambar, was arrested in connection with the violence that broke out after the gram panchayat elections. Since he suffered severe injuries, he was admitted to the Bijapur District Hospital where he is still undergoing treatment Police said that Dyamavva hanged herself at about 6.30 p.m. Her daughter and neighbours cut the cloth she used to hang herself, but could not save her.
