Former bank chairman dead

THRISSUR, APRIL 6. The former chairman of the Federal Bank Vadakke Kuruppath Shyamasundaran died at his residence at Korappath Lane in the city today. He was 82.

Shyamasundaran, who joined the Reserve Bank of India in 1947, retired as the principal of the Reserve Bank Training College in 1981. Later, he became the adviser for the Exim Bank and held the post of the Chairman of the Federal Bank from 1983 to 1988.

He was also the director of the Dhanalakshmi Bank, Andhra Bank, Nedungadi Bank and the State Bank of Mysore.

Shyamasundaran had also served as the member of the managing committee of the Indian Banks Association, as the president of the Kochi Chapter of the Association and of the Kerala Bankers' Chamber.
