WARANGAL, APRIL 6. Fifteen naxalites belonging to various extremist groups surrendered before the DIG, B. L. Meena, here on Wednesday. They included five Maoists, four dalam members of the Janashakti, one dalam member of the CPUSI, one dalam member of New Democracy, one member of the Praja Pratighatana and two of the Adivasi Liberation Tigers (ALT). The surrendered Maoists are: Gangula Raji Reddy alias Shyam, member of the Nallamala forest division committee, who joined the extremist movement a decade ago. He worked in various squads in Kurnool district and was involved in six murders, several exchange of fires and in attacks on the Srisailam and Sunnipenta police stations and CRPF camp at Dornala. Mr. Meena urged the naxalites to join the mainstream by taking advantage of the rehabilitation package being extended by the State Government. The Superintendent of Police, M. S. Ravindra, was present.
