NAGAPATTINAM, APRIL 7. College students should develop self-confidence and communication skill to face the challenges in the existing global scenario, said D. Janaki, Vice-Chancellor of Mother Teresa Women's University. Delivering special address at the 50th annual day celebrations of A.V.C.College, which is celebrating its golden jubilee this year, at Mayiladuthurai on Wednesday, Dr.Janaki advised the students to concentrate on self-employment rather than going abroad in search of jobs. The Vice-Chancellor told the students to fight for the removal of dowry menace and urged them to work to ensure gender equality. Dr. V. Radhakrishnan, principal of the college, who presided, said that the college had been conducting a number of seminars, workshops and community service programmes as part of the golden jubilee celebrations. Dr. S. Asokan of the Department Zoology, was awarded the best teacher award and the Department of Mathematics was adjudged the best department and awarded a rolling cup. C. Senthilvel and S. Sugumar, secretary and treasurer of A.V.C.College, also spoke.
