LUDHIANA, APRIL 7. Former Chief Minister and president of Shiromani Akali Dal-Badal, Parkash Singh Badal, today criticised the State Government for allowing chief parliamentary secretary Milkiat Singh Birmi to start his flying academy from the Patiala airport. Talking to reporters here, he said the Chief Minister had rewarded Mr. Birmi for his role in the crisis when Mr. Birmi betrayed his colleagues and sided with the CM. He alleged that all norms had been thrown to winds by the Chief Minister who claimed to be too honest by allowing Birmi to operate from Patiala airport. He alleged that the Chief Minister was resorting to all sorts of misdeeds starting from the sell out of the liquor vends in the State to rewarding his favourites. He said, although his party had been demanding a CBI inquiry for a long time, nobody was listening to them as the Centre was also being ruled by the Congress and Capt. Singh was having a free reign. Mr. Badal also clarified about his reported meeting with the PCC president, H.S. Hanspal. He claimed that it was a coincidence that he and Mr. Hanspal met at the place of a common friend Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, who is based in the United States. Mr. Dhaliwal is the brother of the Samana Akali Dal MLA, Surjeet Singh Rakhra. --PTI
