ACP for Kanyakumari fixed at Rs.854.59 cr.

NAGERCOIL, APRIL 7. The Annual Credit Plan (ACP) for Kanyakumari district for the year 2005-06 has been fixed at Rs.854.59 crores, 26 per cent more than that of the previous year plan, said P. Selvarajan, Project Director, District Rural Development Agency.

Presenting the ACP on Tuesday, he said a sum of Rs.627.61 crores had been allotted for agriculture and allied sectors, Rs.58.68 crores for industrial sector and Rs.168.80 crores for service sector. The total deposits of all banks were Rs.2,070 crores, and the total advances Rs.1,708 crores. The total priority sector advances was Rs.909 crores, Rs.443 crores for agriculture advances, Rs.474 crores for weaker section advances, Rs.62.10 crores for SC/ST, Rs.277.27 crores for women beneficiaries and Rs.251.20 crores for minority communities.

Banks in the district has disbursed Rs.607.36 crores against the proportionate target of Rs.517.52 crores, registering 117-per cent achievement. The credit flow to farm sector has recorded Rs.424.64 crores against the proportionate target of Rs.376.90 crores, registering 113 per cent achievement.

Disbursement under non-farm sectors was Rs.49.62 crores against the proportionate target of Rs.35.81 crores, registering 138 per cent achievement.

Under the service sector, the ground-level credit flow was Rs.133.46 crores against the proportionate target of Rs.104.80 crores, registering a 127-per cent achievement. The performance of banks in Thovalai, Melpuram, Agastheeswaram, Killiyoor and Kurunthancode needed further encouragement in future so as to achieve the target, he said.

The bankers have also been advised to identify agriculture graduates for financing under agri-clinic scheme.

A sum of Rs.16.16 crores had been disbursed to 1,415 students for their higher studies. The banks have sanctioned 74 loans amounting to Rs.145.17 lakhs against the target of loans to 90 persons involving a subsidy component of Rs.67.27 lakhs in order to facilitate members of various self-help groups to undertake economic activities, he said.
