By Our Special Correspondent
KOLKATA,
APRIL 7.
Tata Steel has recommissioned its largest blast furnace, paving the way for augmenting its hot metal production capacity from 5.2 million tonnes annually compared to a production of 4.4 million tonnes in 2004-05.
Company sources said the furnace, also known as the `G' blast furnace was shut down on December 3, 2004 for upgradation. It had an initial capacity of one million tonnes and was `blown out' after producing a record 14 million tonnes.
