Police take Suri into custody in Prabhakar case

ANANTAPUR, APRIL 7. The Two Town Police took the custody of Suri this evening for interrogation in the Tagarakunta Prabhakar murder case. The AJFCM Court had permitted the police only one day of custody against three days sought by them. Earlier in the day, the AJFCM, A. Jayaraj, ordered one-day police custody for Suri on a petition filed by the police yesterday.

Meanwhile, the DIG of Police (Jails), Samuel Johnson, visited the district jail at Reddypalli to review its functioning in the wake of lodging of several suspects of the Paritala Ravindra murder case. After reviewing the generous permission of `mulaqaat' to Suri visitors given by the jail authorities, the DIG was learnt to have directed them to follow the jail manual and allow visitors only once a week. As the jail officials had already allowed several `mulaqaats' to Suri this week, he was said to have directed the Jail Superintendent, Fazal Haque, to allow the next mulaqaat only on April 16.
