Azhikode to be felicitated

THRISSUR, APRIL 7. Sukumar Azhikode, social critic who turns 80, will be accorded a public reception at the Kerala Sahitya Akademi here on April 10.

The secretary of the Akademi, P.V. Krishnan Nair, will preside over a discussion on `Azhikode's life and literature,' at 2 p.m.

Swami Tattwamayananda of Vivekananda Vijnana Bhavan, K.S. Radhakrishnan, Vice-Chancellor of Sree Sankara University, and M.P. Mathayi of M.G. University will speak.

A poetry session will be held at 4 p.m. Yusafali Kecheri, Akkitham Achuthan Namboodiri, Kadammanitta Ramakrishnan and V. Madhusoodanan Nair, all poets, will take part.

The Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, will inaugurate a public meeting at 5 p.m. and release `Ramananum Malayala Kavithayum,' written by Prof. Azhikode. The Speaker, Therambil Ramakrishnan, will preside. The Leader of the Opposition, V. S. Achuthanandan, M.P. Veerendrakumar, MP, the Mayor, K. Radhakrishnan, the Archbishop, Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy, V. R. Krishna Iyer, former judge of the Supreme Court, and O.N.V. Kurup, poet, will speak, a press release said.
