MARGAO, APRIL 7. A 35th minute goal by Brazilian Fabio Possos helped former champion Salgaocar Sports Club defeat Vasco Sports Club and gain full points in the 16th round of the IX National Football League at the Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Thursday. Vasco could have equalised had Fabio Soares not wasted a spot kick in the 81st minute. With this win Salgaocar moved into seventh place with 19 points from 16 matches (five wins and four draws). Mohun Bagan was eighth with 17 points. Bagan has played one match less. Vasco, struggling to escape relegation, was 11th with 13 points. — UNI
