Pondicherry
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, APRIL 7. The Chief Minister, N. Rangasamy, told C. Jayakumar (Tamil Maanila Congress) during question hour in the Assembly today that a decision would soon be taken on the implementation of the revised wage structure and payment of arrears to workers of the Bharathi Mills and Swadeshi Cotton Mills here. The two mills were under the aegis of the National Textiles Corporation till March 31 and have since been brought under the control of the Pondicherry Textiles Corporation after the signing of a memorandum of understanding. Mr. Jayakumar said that although the Madras High Court had given directives for disbursement of the new wage pattern, the managements of the mills had done nothing. But with the two mills now coming under the Pondicherry administration, a decision on the revised wages would be taken soon, he said.
