Lok Ayukta order on power charges

By Our Staff Reporter

KOLLAM, APRIL 7. A Division Bench of the Lok Ayukta has ordered that the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) consumers who have complaints about the reading shown by electronic meters can deposit either the amount mentioned in the first bill after the installation of the electronic meter or any subsequent bill, whichever is lowest, in order to avoid disconnection.

The order was issued by the Lok Ayukta, K. Sreedharan, and the Upa Lok Ayukta, N. Krishnan Nair, after hearing a complaint filed on behalf of the Kollam Residents Apex Council by the general secretary of the council, S. Amalolbhavan.

The order says that consumers threatened with disconnection for non-payment of electricity charges as per the electronic meter reading can produce a copy of the Lok Ayukta order to the officer concerned of the KSEB and prevent disconnection by making a deposit as cited above.

Copies of the order have been sent to the KSEB chairman and secretary and the KSEB offices in Kollam city.
