Rozgar Yojana targets will be met: Minister

JAIPUR, APRIL 7. The Rajasthan Industries Minister, Narpat Singh Rajvi, today said the targets of benefiting the educated unemployed youth under the Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Yojana would be achieved in the State under a strict schedule and attempts made to get loans from banks for all the deserving applicants.

Mr. Rajvi, speaking in the Assembly during the question hour, said the State Government had appointed a task force for screening the applications for loans by the unemployed and had recommended sanctioning of loans to 71 persons during 2004.

"The process of giving loans on the applications received till March this year will be completed by June next,'' he said.

The Minister, replying to supplementary questions, said there was no separate criterion for sanctioning of loans to those belonging to Scheduled Castes and Tribes and Rajasthan had achieved third rank in the country in providing benefit under the scheme.

Asked about the action stipulated in the cases where banks were not releasing loans within the scheduled time-frame, Mr. Rajvi said the State Government would apprise the Centre of the situation with the request for appropriate action.

Replying to the original question by Madan Rathore regarding the figures of disbursement of loans in Pali district during 1999-2000 to 2003-04, Mr. Rajvi said 4,641 of the 6,254 unemployed youth, who had submitted applications during the period, were selected and referred to the banks with the recommendation for disbursement of loans.
