BIJAPUR, APRIL 7. The Tikota MLA, M.B. Patil, has asked officials of the Public Works Department to set right the substandard work on the 20-km Ittangihal-Tikota road within 15 days. Mr. Patil inspected asphalting work along with a team of civil engineers and found that the work is below standard on many stretches. The asphalting of roads was recently taken up at a cost of Rs. 70 lakhs under the calamity relief fund. Mr. Patil asked the officials concerned not to clear the bills of the contractor till he upgrades the asphalting. Mr. Patil has also planned to get roads such as the Babaleshwar-Arjunagi road via Nidoni, Nagaral, Kalabilagi and Kumathe; the Bijapur-Yatnal road via Jalgeri; the Yatnal-Guddapur road; and the Jumnal-Sarwad road via Dadamatti road inspected by the engineers.
