THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 7. The BJP State general secretary, A. N. Radhakrishnan, and the Mahila Morcha State president, Rema Raghunandan, have sought a judicial inquiry into the SSLC question paper leak. Mr. Radhakrishnan and Ms. Raghunandan told a news conference here today that the ongoing Crime Branch investigation is unlikely to bring to book the real culprits and only a judicial inquiry would help unravel the role played by politicians belonging to the LDF and the UDF in awarding the contract for paper printing for several years to a press which did not have the facilities prescribed by the Government. They alleged that the persons who had been arrested in connection with the question paper leak had only peripheral involvement in the entire affair and what deserved to be looked into was the role of higher bureaucracy and the political bigwigs involved in the award of contract during successive years. They also came down heavily on the Government for its failure to provide proper relief to the tsunami-hit people of Kollam and Alappuzha districts. Although 100 days had passed after the tsunami devastation, the Government had not cared to provide permanent shelters to the tsunami victims, they pointed out. They said the State conference of the Mahila Morcha would be held at Changanassery in Kottayam from April 20 to 22. The conference would be inaugurated by the former Union Minister, Sushma Swaraj. Seminars relating to women's issues would be held in connection with the conference at Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kochi, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram, they said.
