NALGONDA, APRIL 7. The district in-charge Minister, Kanna Laxminarayana, has asked the officials to take effective measures to prevent migration and drinking water problems in the villages. Addressing the officials and MLAs at an awareness meeting on the Praja Patham programme at the Zilla Parishad meeting hall here on Thursday, he said there was no shortage of funds to solve the drinking water problem and to provide employment for the rural poor. The deputy engineers of the rural water supply department were empowered to sanction up to Rs.50,000 for drinking water works, he said requesting the officials to avoid misappropriation of funds.
Maoist issue
The Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, asked the officials to make Praja Patham a grand success. In the wake of a spurt in violence by Maoists in the district, the Ministers sought to know the ground conditions in the district from the Superintendent of Police, M. M. Bhagwat. Asserting that foolproof arrangements were being made for their safety, Mr. Bhagwat asked the officials and people's representatives to be extra cautious. He maintained that a pamphlet would be distributed among the leaders on the precautionary measures needed to be taken during the Praja Patham. Apart from the Collector, K. Vijayanand and the Joint Collector, B. Sridhar, the Rajya Sabha member, A. Sudarshan, the Zilla Parishad chairperson, K. Laxmamma, and the MLAs, J. Ranga Reddy, V. Venkaiah, P. Venkat Reddy, Uma Madhava Reddy, K. Venkat Reddy, K. Nagesh, V. Purushottam Reddy, also took part in the preparatory meeting.
