Robber caught by the public

CHENNAI,
APRIL 7.
A man who tried to snatch a two-sovereign gold chain from a woman in Ambattur yesterday afternoon was caught by the public and handed over to the police after his cycle chain gave way.
The police said Hari Krishnan, a resident of Vijayalaksmipuram near Ambattur, attempted to decamp with the chain he snatched from a private company employee when he was left stranded by his repaired cycle.
The residents who chased the chain snatcher gave him a thrashing before handing him over to the police.
