HYDERABAD, APRIL 7. Some 210 backlog vacancies meant for the physically challenged have been identified in different departments of Hyderabad district, according to the Assistant Director, Disabled Welfare Department, Mohd. Akbar Ali. At a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Ali said that 79 posts were filled so far. Among the 210 posts, 167 were attender posts and 43 junior assistant posts. The remaining could not be filled due to court cases. Some 1,239 physically challenged persons were accommodated in 10 hostels. They were being given Rs. 300 as mess charges. Textbooks, including those in Braille script, would also be supplied free of cost besides provision of Rs. 150 per annum to each boarder for notebooks.
