Injured in accident

KOCHI, APRIL 7. Five persons were injured when the mini lorry in which they were travelling collided with a lorry near the Kumbalam bridge on Thursday night.

The police said the mini lorry overturned in the impact of the collision. The injured, who were employed with a firm, have been taken to Lakeshore Hospital.

Body found

The body of Satheesh, 25, a sweeper with the Kochi Corporation, was found near the GCDA market, Kaloor, today.

He was staying at 24, Muri Colony, SRM Road.

The Ernakulam North Police have registered a case. He was reportedly missing for the past two days.

World Health Day

With the slogan calling attention to the health of each child and mother, the World Health Day programmes were held on Thursday to create awareness on promoting general health of the people. A seminar organised jointly by Indian Medical Association, Kochi, and the Kerala Government Medical Officers' Association, was inaugurated by P.K. Sivaraman, Additional Director, Directorate of Health Service.

An adolescent clinic was inaugurated on the occasion.

It will function at the General Hospital and will be run jointly by the hospital authorities and the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences.

Attestation centre

The third certificate-attestation centre under NORKA to help attest educational certificates of candidates seeking jobs abroad will be inaugurated in the city by the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy, on Monday. Auto drivers' charge

The Ernakulam Autorickshaw Drivers' Association, affiliated to the Centre of Indian Trade Unions, has alleged that personnel of the Motor Vehicles' Department were `unscientifically' continuing with the existing permit system. This has affected many autorickshaws plying in places such as Vazhakkala, Chembumukku, Edapally Toll and Pettah, V.P. Praveen, association secretary, said.

Meeting

The meeting of residents' associations called by the City Police Commissioner every second Saturday will be held at 10.30 a.m. on April 9 at Sreedevi Auditorium, near Marad Temple, the Ernakulam District Residents' Associations Apex Council has said. For details, call 98472 73757.

Flight cancelled

Nedumbassery: The Gulf Air flight, GF 271, bound for Abu Dhabi, was cancelled owing to a technical snag.

The flight, with 146 passengers on board, was readied to proceed to the runway at the scheduled time of 7 a.m. before the snag was detected.
