KOCHI, APRIL 7. The Suvarna Thoolika Award instituted by Aksharavedi Foundation will be given to Aravindan Manikkoth, Editor of Latest, a Malayalam newspaper. The award consists of a cash prize of Rs. 10,001, citation and statuette. This was disclosed at a press conference here today by Prakash, representative of Aksharavedi. Mr. Prakash said the award winner had to face a testing time because he criticised corruption, injustice and religious animosity. He was physically attacked several times and the press in which he printed his newspaper was subjected to bomb attacks. The award committee comprised Madavana Balakrishna Pillai, K.M. Roy, Kakkanadan, A.K.A. Rahman and Mary Vithayathil.
