Two killed in bus accident

KOCHI, APRIL 7. Two people were killed when a private bus in which they were travelling overturned near Pettah early this morning.

The bus was proceeding from Ameda to Ernakulam. It was raining and the driver lost control of the vehicle. The victims are Ananda, 43, of Udayamperoor, wife of Nandappan, and the conductor of the bus, Rajesh, 20, of Karunagapally.

Ananda was caught under the bus. The body was retrieved after a crane, brought from Ernakulam, pulled up the bus. Eleven persons were injured in the accident.

The police and the Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed the injured to the taluk hospital, Tripunithura, and Ernakulam General Hospital.

Janaki of Udayamperoor has been shifted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital.

Most of the passengers were going to the Champakkara market.

The Tripunithura Traffic Police have registered a case.
