Temperature

MADURAI, APRIL 7. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 30.6 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius.

Water level

The level in the Periyar dam was 110.2 feet with an inflow of 1020 cusecs and a discharge of 130 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 27.62 feet with an inflow of 238 cusecs and a discharge of 41 cusecs. The combined Periyar storage was 1094 mcft.

Train stoppage

The stoppage provided for the Madurai-Hazrat Nizamuddin-Madurai Tamil Nadu Sampark Kranti Express trains at Chengalpattu railway station would continue till further notice, says a Railway press release.

Panjangam

The `Parthiba Varuda Panjangam' was released by Tamil Nadu Brahmins Association at a function organised at S.S. Colony on Monday.

C. R. Ravichandran, Chief Commissioner (Income Tax), released the almanac. The State advisor, V. Jaganathan, presided. TAMBRAS president, N. Ganapathy Narasimhan, welcomed. Earlier, vedic pandits performed Mahaganapathi, Navagraha, Mahalakshmi, Mahasundarsana and Boovaragha homams. The general secretary, S. Sekar, proposed a vote of thanks.
