Three held following clash

VISAKHAPATNAM, APRIL 7. Three persons were taken into custody in connection with a clash at Naidu Thota area on the outskirts of the city on Thursday.

According to the police, Javed and Samba, who were allegedly in an inebriated condition, beat up one P.V. Satyanarayana Raju on Wednesday night. Raju was injured in the eye and was admitted to hospital. The duo were taken into custody.

On Thursday morning, Satyanarayana Raju's brother Bapi Raju went to a local bar and threatened to kill its cashier and he was also taken into custody. The Pendurthy police are investigating the case.

Trailer destroyed

A lorry trailer was destroyed and a cleaner sustained severe burns in a mishap on Thursday. The trailer was at a workshop for repairs. As the repair works were on, the diesel tank caught fire and soon spread to the whole lorry. The cleaner, D. Appa Rao (22), who was standing close to the lorry sustained burns. He was admitted to the King George Hospital. Fifth Town ASI, Patrudu, is investigating the case.
