COIMBATORE, APRIL 7. Twenty-five persons sustained injuries, two of them seriously, when a State Transport Corporation bus fell on its side after dashing against a tanker lorry near Eachanari on Thursday. According to police, the bus was bound for Udumalpet from Coimbatore and the tanker lorry was proceeding from Mettur. Following the accident, traffic was disrupted on the busy Pollachi Road for a few hours. The injured were admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and nearby private hospitals.
Burglary attempt
Burglars broke into a nationalised bank's branch at Chettipalayam near Podanur on the outskirts of the city on Thursday. They had gained entry on the premises after disconnecting the alarm system. Their attempts to break open the safe vault went in vain. They damaged the furniture and other utility items in the bank and escaped from the scene.
