THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 7 . The Thampanoor ward councillor, Satheesh, has urged the Government to take up construction of a bypass canal to prevent flooding of the Thampanoor area. In a press note here today, he said that the proposed bypass from RMS Junction across Overbridge Junction to Uppidamoodu had remained in cold storage for years. Mr. Satheesh accused the Government of half-hearted attempts to handle flood control. He urged the Water Resources Department to open up and clean the portion of the canal running underneath the parking ground of Sreekumar theatre. Welcoming the Chief Minister's decision to convene a meeting to discuss flood control activities for Thampanoor, Mr. Satheesh demanded that he be included in the talks. He threatened to stage a `satyagraha' in front of the Secretariat if he was not invited.
