THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 7. Fourteen companies participated in a pre-bid meet organised here recently in connection with the construction of the proposed deepwater container transshipment terminal at Vizhinjam, even as the Government extended the last date for submission of tenders by two more months. The Government issued a notification today extending the last date for submission of tenders to June 8. A press note issued from the office of the Minister for Ports, M.V. Raghavan, said the Government's investor- friendly approach and the project's commercial viability had appealed to the potential bidders. The 14 companies interested in the project include the Beckett Rankine Partnership Consortium, London; Afoons Infrastructure Limited, Mumbai; Gammon Infrastructure Project Ltd., Mumbai; Maersk India Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai; AR Traders, Kozhikode; SICAL Logistics, Chennai; Ital Thai Development Public Co. Ltd., Bangkok; Essar Shipping Ltd., Mumbai; CMA-CGM Global (India) Pvt. Ltd., Chennai; Macknight Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai; Larsen and Toubro, Chennai; Ssangyong Construction Co. Ltd., New Delhi; Hili Co., Malta; and Zoom Developers Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai. The Ports Secretary, L. Radhakrishnan, the Advisor to the Government, Babu Jacob, the Chief Executive Officer of the Vizhinjam International Seaports Limited, and the Ports Director, Chandrasekharan Nair, participated in the meet.
