BANGALORE, APRIL 7. A 17-year-old youth was killed when the car of the Minister for Sericulture, Chennigappa, hit his bicycle in Nelamangala in Bangalore Rural District on Thursday. The police gave the name of the dead as Nanjundaswamy, a resident of Rayan Nagar in Nelamangala. The accident occurred around 3.30 p.m. in front of the Telephone Exchange at Kunigal Circle in Nelamangala town, the police said. The police have arrested the car driver, Rame Gowda, and seized the vehicle. Mr. Chennigappa had gone to his native village, Byranayakanahalli of Korategere taluk in Tumkur district, in his official car. As the vehicle broke down he reached Bangalore in a private car to attend the Cabinet meeting today. After getting the car repaired, Rame Gowda was bringing it back to Bangalore when the accident occurred.
