Another partly cloudy day

NEW DELHI APRIL 7. Delhiites would wake up to a partly cloudy sky on Friday. There is a possibility of thundery development or light rain accompanied by squall in some areas of the Capital. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 38 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Thursday were 40.0 degrees Celsius and 25.2 degrees Celsius respectively, while Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius and minimum of 21.1 degrees Celsius.

While the maximum and minimum relative humidity at Safdarjung was 42 per cent and 15 per cent respectively, Palam recorded a maximum humidity of 38 per cent and minimum of 16 per cent.

Post-mortem deferred

NEW DELHI APRIL 7. The post-mortem on the body of Kaushik Mohan Das, the Wipro call centre manager who was found dead in his Maruti Baleno car outside the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus on Wednesday morning, has been deferred in keeping with his parents' wishes. They are awaiting the return of their other son from Sydney in Australia and their daughter from Pondicherry.

Meanwhile, the police have not been able to ascertain from where Kaushik acquired the Chinese pistol with which he allegedly shot himself in the temple.

DUTA plea to President

NEW DELHI APRIL 7. The Delhi University Teachers' Association president, Aditya Narain Misra, called on the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, today demanding a Visitorial enquiry against the Vice-Chancellor, Deepak Nayyar.

The DUTA president urged Dr. Kalam -- who is the Visitor of the University -- to initiate an enquiry into the functioning of the Vice-Chancellor under Section 7-A of the Delhi University Act as enacted by Parliament.

"For the past 18 months we have been asking the Vice-Chancellor for time, but without any success. And although he has not met us, the President and the Union Minister for Human Resource and Development, Arjun Singh, have," said Mr. Misra.

Loot case

New Delhi April 7. Three armed men allegedly looted Rs 2.5 lakh from a house in Sangam Vihar area of South Delhi this afternoon.

The men barged into the house of a businessman in Sangam Vihar's C Block at about 2-30 p.m. and took away about Rs 30,000 in cash and some jewellery at gun point from his wife, according to the police.

The woman received minor injuries in the scuffle after she resisted. The men took away the things by pointing a country-made pistol at her.
