COIMBATORE, APRIL 8. Pune will host the opening round of the Gulf Dirt Track National Championship (GDTNC) for two wheelers on April 22 and 23. Gulf Oil Corporation Ltd, the championship sponsors, has decided to upgrade the event as the national championship under the aegis of the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI). The event, organised by Sportscraft, will be part of the FMSCI Championship along with the other GDTNC rounds to be held later in Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad and Coimbatore. The upgradation now ensures more participation and increased prize-money. The challenge is also bound to be intense. TVS Suzuki, the notable absentee last year, has entered the fray and will be looking to make up for lost ground and give Team Yamaha a run for its money.
