All praise for Indian women

HYDERABAD, APRIL 8. The good performance of the Indian team in the ongoing women's World Cup cricket tournament in South Africa has drawn wide spread acclaim in Hyderabad. The fact that India knocked out defending champion New Zealand to enter the final and especially the good batting of India skipper Mithali Raj, who hails from Hyderabad, has come in for a lot of praise.

In a message released to the media here today, Mr.M.S.Raj Thakur, Chairman of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) congratulated Mithali Raj for her unbeaten 91 in the semi final against New Zealand and said that he people of the state were proud of her individual display and also her leadership qualities. The Chairman hoped that the Indian team would bring home the trophy.

Ms. Sumita Dawra, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, SAAP, also congratulated the Indian captain for her fine performance and said that Mithali Raj deserves praise for her fighting qualities.

Rajnala Srihari, Director, SAAP also expressed similar sentiments while Padmasree Lagadapati, Chairperson, AP Women's Cricket Association said that Mithali Raj and her players have raised the hopes of Indian fans back home and wished the team best of luck for the finals.
