BSNL announces new plans for B-fone users

NELLORE, APRIL 8. The General Manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Nellore, G. Gopi, has announced new plans for Nellore urban landline (B-fone) subscribers, beneficial for high usage customers.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he informed that each of the six plans would give the subscriber specified number of free calls. For instance under Plan-145, free calls worth Rs. 51.60 paise would be given for a monthly charge of Rs. 145. Under Plan-2250 free calls worth Rs. 2,610 would be given for a monthly charge of Rs. 2,250.

He said more than 18,000 new telephone connections have been provided in the district for the year 2004-2005 and more than 1,900 WLL phones. As on March 31, about 1,16,760 telephones were functioning in the district.

Mr. Gopi said for the current year cell coverage up to mandal headquarters would be provided and seven more base terminal stations (BTS) apart from existing six BTS would be provided for better coverage and traffic handling capacity.

Broadband services

Broadband (datatone) services have been planned in Nellore and other towns in a phased manner. He said WLL sites had been sanctioned for Venkatagiri, Vinjamuru, Podalakur, Rapur, Butchi, Atmakur and Kaluvoy for clearing long distance rural connections. Regarding STD PT Commission, from April 1 onwards, the minimum guarantee had been reduced to Rs. 800 in urban areas Rs. 100 in rural areas, whereas the commission varies in slabs from 25 per cent to 35 per cent depending on the calling pattern.

During the year 2004-2005, fault rate had been reduced from 10 to 6 in Nellore town and cell services had commenced in Vinjamur, Atmakur, Venkatagiri and Kaluvoy.
