Rover's decision would have no impact: Tatas
NEW DELHI,
APRIL 8.
Tata Motors today said the British-owned car manufacturer, MG Rover's decision to file for bankruptcy protection would not have "any significant impact'' on the company's exports to the U.K.
"Given the volumes of the domestic and growing international business the temporary disruption of exports to the U.K. is not expected to have any significant impact,'' Tata Motors said in a statement. It said the company "continues to study developments and expects a clearer picture to emerge over the next few days.'' "Tata Motors remains committed to the U.K. market and the support of customers there,'' the statement adds.
Tata Motors had entered into an agreement with MG Rover in December 2002 to export one lakh units of Tata Indica to be sold in Europe as City Rover over the next five years.
