Vijayawada
By Our Staff Reporter
VIJAYAWADA, APRIL 8. It was a pleasant surprise for pilgrims at the Kanakadurga Temple. They had come from far and near to offer prayers to the goddess and seek blessings. But some of them were lucky to come face-to-face with the `goddess' of the silver screen, Jayaprada. However, a few other pilgrims who were stuck in the darshan queue, had to be satisfied with only a glimpse of the actress Clad in a sky blue Punjabi dress, Jayaprada spoke to the scribes, after darshan, about a dance-ballet she is preparing for by working for five to six hours a day. She will be playing the lead role of `Aamrapali', in the ballet that will first be staged in Mumbai on May 21-22. The ballet will then be performed at New Delhi and Hyderabad, she said.
Keen on Telugu films
Jayaprada said she had four Hindi films on hand, but was waiting for a Telugu film with a good storyline and strong character. "I have an intense desire to do a Telugu film with a role like the one I did in Sagara Sangamam," she said, adding that a great director like Satyajit Ray had complimented her on her beauty. Ms. Jayaprada said that she owed it to her mother. Commitment, sincerity and discipline were also essential to be able to maintain the glamour she said, and added, "I picked up these traits from NTR."
