BANGALORE, APRIL 8. An unidentified man aged around 45 was found murdered at a lodge in Ramanagaram town in Bangalore Rural district on Thursday. The police said the assailant had killed the man by punching him on the face and had tried to set the body on fire after dousing it with whisky. Two persons had checked into the lodge on Wednesday night and one of them had given his name as Chandru of Pete Beedi at Chintamani in Kolar district. On Thursday morning one of them left the lodge. Towards evening, the hotel staff found that water was flowing from the tap in the room in which the two were staying. They opened the door, which was not bolted, and entered the room to find a man lying dead on the floor. The police were alerted. The Ramanagaram police have registered a case and sent a team to Chintamani.
