ERODE, APRIL 9. Heavy rain that occurred on April 6 in Kavindapady, P. Mettupalayam and its surrounding areas has helped fill up the Anandasagar tank located in P. Mettupalayam area in Bhavani taluk. The tank was designed three decades back to store the seepage water from the Thadapalli and the rainwater. The water is sufficient to irrigate 340 acres. Three canals have been constructed to drain any overflow of the tank. The Public Works Department officials said at present 183 cusecs of water is stored as against the full capacity of 183.6 cusecs. The rain has also helped refill the ground water level in the surrounding 500-odd open wells and bore wells. The farmers said there would be not be any water scarcity for another nine months. Rain in the Sathyamangalam, Thimbam and Bannari forest areas has helped heavy flow of water to the Gunderipallam reservoir.
