Students told to work to uplift society

MALAPPURAM, APRIL 9. The Union Minister of State for External Affairs, E. Ahamed, has said that students can bring about revolutionary changes more effectively and quickly in society.

Although everyone has the freedom to express and follow new ideals, students should work for changes by strictly adhering to the tenets of religious ideology, the Union Minister said while inaugurating a students' meet held as part of the ongoing district conference of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).

He said students have a responsibility to ensure social justice in our country.

P. Lamrath, district president of the Muslim Students Federation (MSF), presided.

The Minister for Education, E.T. Mohammed Basheer, delivered the keynote address.

The IUML MLAs, Cherkalam Abdullah and Nalakath Soopy; the MSF State president, P.M. Sadiq Ali; and the MSF State general secretary, P.M. Haneefa, spoke on the occasion.

T.P. Ashraf Ali, district general secretary of the MSF, welcomed the gathering. M.K. Afsal Rahman, MSF district treasurer, proposed a vote of thanks.
