KC (Jacob) plans agitation

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 9. The Kerala Congress (Jacob) has decided to launch a series of agitations against the Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy's anti-people policies.

This was stated by the party leader, T. M. Jacob, while addressing a meeting of the Vanitha Congerss (Jacob) here today. He said that the Chandy administration had alienated the people of Kerala within the short span it had been in power.

He said that the SSLC question paper leak had put a question mark over the credibility of the Government. It had also failed to address the apprehensions of the students and their parents. The Government had failed to tackle the price rise on account of the current traders' agitation against VAT. In the field of agriculture, the Government had miserably failed in paddy procurement. The UDF was not convened to discuss the problems relating to paddy procurement and tsunami rehabilitation. The UDF Government under A. K. Antony used to discuss policy matters and after Mr. Chandy took over, the UDF was now implementing anti-people policies. Mr. Jacob said that his party would carry forward the agitations on popular issues. The UDF had come to power on the basis of a clear mandate and election manifesto. However, the Chandy Government had deviated from the stated policies of the UDF as emphasised in its manifesto. He said that liquor policy did not have the approval of the UDF, while the lottery ban had been imposed without proper discussion.
