KOLLAM, APRIL 9. A team from the Asian Disaster Reduction Centre (ADRC) today visited the tsunami-hit areas of Alapad to conduct a research study on ways to minimise the general disaster impact of a tsunami. The team, comprising 11 members from abroad and two from the Government of India disaster management unit in Delhi, met the District Collector, B. Sreenivas. The team will meet members of other organisations that were involved in the rescue and relief operations at Alapad. The thrust of the research will be on learning about the nature of destruction caused by the wave.
