Mid-day meal case sent for House approval

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, APRIL 9 . In an interesting development in the case relating to alleged corruption in the Rs. 20-crore mid-day meal scheme, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has prepared a charge-sheet against the then Director (Primary Education) and now suspended Additional Commissioner, Raj Mohan Singh, and sent it for approval of the House. The approval is likely to come when the House meets for regular business next month after completing the formalities for electing a new Leader of the House this coming Monday.

The charge-sheet mentions that Indira Yadav, the then Additional Director (West) had put up the file to Mr. Singh on February 2, 2003, for getting approval to process the bids received for serving mid-day meal items for children studying in MCD schools. However, even though an early decision was required to be taken in the matter, Mr. Raj Mohan Singh, the then Director (Primary Education), kept the file pending with him for three and half months and cleared the proposal only on June 3, 2003.
