NEW DELHI, APRIL 9. One of the accused arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police on charges of printing and supplying fake caste certificates is learnt to be the brother of a man wanted in a similar case in which a deputy director with the Ministry of Food and Consumer Affairs, a former Army man and his other accomplices were arrested by the Special Staff of the South-West Delhi police about two years ago. Arun Jain, a resident of Sonepat in Haryana, was arrested along with Laxmi Chand from Kanjhawla in North-West Delhi. During interrogation, he allegedly disclosed that he supplied fake certificates for recruitments in the Army. Interestingly, Arun's brother, Vikas, also operated from Kanjhawla about two years ago and allegedly supplied certificates to Ram Sewak, the former Army man who had been running the racket in the garb of a training centre called `Bajaj Physical Institute' for induction in the military and the para-military. In that case, the police found that the accused had been forging documents like ration cards and caste/domicile/character certificates. The investigations then revealed that the gang had links with the staff members of certain Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) offices in different parts of the Capital. The police found that apart from Vikas, another key member of the gang, Jitender, had been getting the documents forged from the SDM staffers to supply them to those applying for posts in the Army and other forces. The gang had even managed to intercept secret verification forms sent by the Army, forge them and send them back showing their candidature to be genuine. At that point in time, the police had suspicion that the gang members had links in the Army training centres at Bangalore, Roorkee, Jabalpur, Nasik, Bhopal and other places.
