CHENNAI, APRIL 9. Police personnel are being trained in digital videography and photography. One head constable attached to every station will be trained to take pictures and maintain the camera. Professional photographers in the department say the aim is to equip the police force with technology. About 1,140 police personnel and patrol vehicles in the State have been provided digital video cameras and trained to handle them. The Greater Chennai Commissioner of Police, R. Nataraj, inaugurated the three-day training sessions, which began on April 4. So far, about 185 sub-inspectors, policemen and policewomen have been trained. Professors from film institutes and cinematographers from the Tamil film industry conducted classes for about 40 professional photographers in the police department. K. Vijay Kumar, Additional Director-General of Police, also participated in the valedictory function.
