Lions Club convention

begins

KOCHI, APRIL 9. The first annual district convention of the Lions Club International District 324 E-4 began here today. G. Ramaswamy, former Lions International Director, inaugurated the convention. Lions Club members from Ernakulam, Idukki and Alappuzha are participating in the two-day programme.

Dharna against VAT

The Ernakulam Merchants Union will organise a dharna at Menaka Junction on Monday in support of the indefinite fast by leaders of the Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi being held in front of the Secretariat against introduction of Value Added Tax (VAT) system.

Literary camp

A literary camp will be organised by the Ernakulam Public Library from April 23 to 25. Writers and critics will take classes for students attending the camp. Those who wish to participate in the camp should register their names before April 20. Phone: 2355491/ 2351894.

RSS fete

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will organise `Varshapratipadha Maholsavam' at Durbar Hall Ground tomorrow. A `yatra' will be held from Manapattiparambu at 3.15 p.m. in connection with the celebrations.

Family meet

The Ex-Naval Personnel Welfare Association will celebrate Family Day 2005 at the residence of Leslie Beivera at Parry Junction here on Sunday.
