This Day That Age
"Nations cannot become great if they do not transcend narrow loyalties and face their problems with courage and imagination. India is great and is becoming greater day by day and there is no room in the India of future for narrow-mindedness. Little minds and great nations do not go together," declared the Union Home Minister, Mr. G.B.Pant, while delivering the convocation address at the Sanatan Dharma College, a refugee institution, at Ambala on April 9. He said they had taken upon themselves the responsibilities for bringing about peace in this strife-torn world. "It is a pity that we should think in terms of religion, regions and language. India's greatness lay in the fact that she has rich diversity in languages and culture. Our unity should fully take into account this diversity without which India will be distinctly a poorer country." Pandit Pant concluded his speech with an impassioned appeal to all sections of the people to rise above narrow and parochial considerations and face all problems with courage, self-confidence and determination. "We should not consider ourselves separate from each other. While professing different religions, our strength lies in national solidarity."
