Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the article, `The monotony of re-enactments' (Insight, April 10). It is true that the Congress re-enactment of the Dandi march is neither apolitical nor does it share the objectives of the original. The aim of the march led by Gandhiji was to free the country from foreign rule. The aim of re-enacting it is to beat the BJP and Narendra Modi.
Sir, It hurts to see the Congressmen of these days, who know no sacrifice, re-enacting the epoch-making Dandi march with no other purpose than to gain political mileage. The Congressmen of those days dared the batons of the British police and suffered for months in prison. They actually walked the entire distance.
V.E. Venkataramani,
